WHAT IS CO?

Carbon Monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas and cause thousands of accidental deaths every year. Carbon Monoxide poisoning can be caused by faulty appliances, heaters and woodburning stoves, to name a few. BRID reduces Carbon Monoxide concentration and can be equipped with an optional CO detector.

WHERE WE CAN FIND IT

Gas stoves, tobacco smoke, kerosene and gas space heaters, poorly maintained combustion devices (e.g., boilers, furnaces).

TESTING METHOD

A BRID unit was placed in 0.5 cubic meter hermetic reactor complete with a gas injection system and a electrochemical cell analyzer for the quantification of CO in the air. (resolution 1ppm)
This test was conducted by Micro-B srl

WHAT IS NOx?

NOx is an abbreviation for nitrogen oxides which are a family of poisonous gases composed of nitrogen and oxygen. This pollution is created by man-made events such as fuel combustion, water waste treatment and agricultural activities and emissions of NOx can cause an array of chronic health problems.

WHERE WE CAN FIND IT

Mainly in motor vehicles, wood burning heaters and from industrial waste.

TESTING METHOD

A BRID unit was placed inside a 1 cubic meter laboratory glove box that was polluted with a highly concentrated amount of NOx gas (100 ppb). The test was conducted by measuring the air quality wtih a chemiluminescence Thermo 42 I every 10 seconds.
This test was conducted by Colorobbia Consulting srl.

WHAT IS PMs?

PM or Particulate matter describes extremely small solid particles and liquid droplets suspended in the air. Particulate matter can be made up of a variety of components including nitrates, sulphates, organic chemicals, metals, soil or dust particles, and allergens (such as fragments of pollen or mold spores).

WHERE WE CAN FIND IT

Mainly in motor vehicles, wood burning heaters and from industrial waste.

TESTING METHOD

A BRID unit was placed in a 22 square meter furnished office. The test samples were taken from 6 different positions in the room according to the idications required from the law: UNI EN IS= 14644-1:2016
The test was conducted by Studio Ambiente srl.

WHAT ARE VOCs?

VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) are dangerous chemicals and they represent the most prevalent pollutants in indoor environments. Unlike HEPA filters, BRID destroys these gaseous pollutants that, when not treated, can cause long term health effects.

WHERE WE CAN FIND IT

Paint, lacquer, moth repellents, air fresheners, wood preservatives, aerosol sprays.

TESTING METHOD

A BRID unit was placed in 0.5 cubic meter hermetic reactor that was polluted with vaporized ethanol. The quantity of ethanol used was detected by a flame ionization detector. (FID) with a resolution of 1ppm.
This test was conducted by Micro-B srl

WHAT ARE BACTERIA?

The titanium dioxide photocatalyst has been found to be more effective than any other antibacterial agent, because it works even while the bacteria are actively propagating. L.E.A.P. Technology is not selective, which means that does not promote a “survival of the fittest” effect on bacteria and, on the other hand, does not generate an overly sterile environment.

WHERE WE CAN FIND IT

Heating, air-conditioning systems, mold, dust resuspension, pets, humans

TESTING METHOD

A BRID unit was placed in a 22 square meter furnished office. The sampling was taken from 6 different places in the room according to the requirements indicated by the law: UNI EN ISO 14644-1:2016 the survey of the contaminated charge was conducted by using the following cultured samples: Agar for bacteria, Tripton Soia Agar, Agar for fungi: Sabourad Agar.
The test was conducted by Studio Ambiente srl

Distruction of Volatile Organic Compounds

Ethyl Acetate

Isopropanol

Formaldehyde

Limonene

Toluene

ABOUT ETHYL ACETATE?

Ethyl acetate is an ester of ethanol and acetic acid. At room temperature it becomes a volatile and colorless liquid; it is a very flammable, irritating com- pound. It is widely used as a solvent for paints, resins and glues being relatively less toxic than other chlorinated solvents. It is also the solvent used in a method for producing decaffeinated coffee.

ABOUT ISOPROPANOL (ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL)

Isopropyl alcohol is colorless and moderately volatile, with a strong odor which is not unpleasant if pure. Isopropyl alcohol is commonly used as a detergent, as a skin disinfectant (rubbing alcohol) as denatured ethyl alcohol, as a solvent and as an additive in printing as well as an important intermediate for pharmaceutical and cosmetic product synthesis.

ABOUT FORMALDEHYDE

Formaldehyde is widely used as a disinfectant for domestic use and in the production of fabrics at an industrial level. Formaldehyde solutions are also used to store samples of biological material and in solution vaccines. However, most of the formaldehyde produced is destined for the production of polymers and other chemical compounds. Formaldehyde is used as a bonding solution for chipboard, melamine or medium- density fibreboard (MDF) panels; it is also contained in sound-absorbing panels of false ceilings and partition walls of offices.

ABOUT LIMONENE

Limonene is a cyclic unsaturated hydrocarbon used for the production of various food essences, for cosmetic products and toothpastes. Limonene is added to detergent products to give them an orange-like smell and is also added due to its high degreasing power.

ABOUT TOLUENE

Toluene is an aromatic hydrocarbon, used as a solvent in place of the more toxic benzene, which it resembles closely, it is also contained in gasoline. Toluene is mainly used as a sub- stitute for benzene both as a reactive and as a solvent. As such, toluene is used to dissolve resins, fats, oils, paints, glues, dyes and many other compounds.
